Why Seeing a Dentist Is Vital

BOOK APPOINTMENT

A dentist is often the professional with the worst reputation in your mind. He or she generally is a provider who requires you to come in twice a year for a checkup. You may have to deal with some pain during it. You may need a cleaning or two. This service may not seem like it is a good idea but getting in to see this provider is critical to maintaining your oral health. If you put it off for too long, you will face long-term complications that are much more difficult to treat and fight.

Why You Need to Seek Out Help

When it comes to seeing a dentist, there are many reasons to do so. If you are like many people and put it off, change your ways. Not getting in to see the dental care provider on a regular basis can have more consequences than you realize. Take into consideration the following situations that can occur in many people who do not get in to the office enough.

  • Without a professional cleaning, plaque will build up on your teeth. It is one of the worst causes of bad breath and gum disease. Soon, that built up bacteria will lead to bad breath that isn’t treated with brushing. You may end up with gum disease that causes bleeding.
  • If you still do not make it in, the plaque will continue to grow and expand in your mouth. It will slowly push under your gums and to the roots of your teeth where it will damage the root, causing pain.
  • If you keep putting it off, this will lead to the worsening of gingivitis, a gum disease. The gums fall back and die off. This leaves the teeth weak and loose. They could fall out.
  • The plaque continues to form, but what many do not know is that pieces of it can break off and enter into the blood stream. It can end up in your heart or brain, causing a heart attack or a stroke in some situations, or contributing to other factors that do.
  • If you still do nothing, your oral health can worsen to the point where you need to have teeth removed, bone graphs to repair damaged bone structures and even have dentures as a young age.

The good news is you can prevent many of these circumstances by seeing your dentist on a regular basis. By stopping the bacteria and controlling plaque, you can avoid the onset of many of these problems and reduce your overall pain and discomfort significantly. This is not something you should avoid doing even because you hate the process.
